 races a young woman’s quest to find a place in her Native American com
 munity as it reels from decades of environmental degradation. Monique Ve
 rdin returns to Southeast Louisiana to reunite with her Houma Nation fam
 ily. But soon she sees that her people’s traditional way of life is th
 reatened by a cycle of man-made environmental crises. Hurricane Katrina 
 and the BP oil leak are just the latest rounds in this century-old cycle
  that is forcing Monique’s clan to adapt in new ways. Monique must ove
 rcome the loss of her home\, her father\, and her partner – and redefi
 ne the meaning of home.\n\nMy Louisiana Love is a  film by Sharon Linez
 o Hong\, Mark Krasnoff and &amp\; Monique Verdin\, directed by Sharon Li
 nezo Hong. Run time: 1h 6m\, followed by a live virtual discussion with

 sciplinary artist and storyteller who documents the complex relationship
  between environment\, culture\, and climate in southeast Louisiana. She
  is a citizen of the Houma Nation\, director of The Land Memory Bank &am
 p\; Seed Exchange and is supporting the Okla Hina Ikhish Holo (People of
  the Sacred Medicine Trail)\, a network of Indigenous gardeners\, as the
  Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network's Gulf South food and medici
 ne sovereignty program manager. Monique is co-producer of the documentar
 y My Louisiana Love and her work has been included in a variety of envir
 onmentally inspired projects\, including Cry You One the multiplatform p
 erformance\, Unfathomable City: A New Orleans Atlas\, and the collaborat
 ive book Return to Yakni Chitto: Houma Migrations.
