Therese Stanton was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Award. She is the recipient of the Avery Hopwood Award, The Rona Jaffe Foundation Writing Award, The Rackham Merit Fellowship, and The Native American Writers fellowship at the Vermont Writing Studio. She was a resident at Blue Mountain Center and was awarded three-month writing residencies at Hedgbrook and The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico (HWF).

Her work has been published in many journals, anthologies, and magazines, including It Starts with Hope: Writing and Images of Hope Donated to the Center for Victims of Torture, A Public Space, Meridian, Carve, Ms. Magazine, On the Issues, Changing Men, Emma, Off Our Backs, Lakota Times, and The Nation. Her short story, All Songs Singing, received Special Mention for the 2013 Pushcart Prize. Therese was born in Mendota, Minnesota, and lives with her wife in Minneapolis.
