CALL FOR ARTISTS: Roots
Call for Artists: Roots, a 2026 AMRA Juried Group Exhibition
All My Relations Arts invites Native artists working in any media to participate in a new group exhibition series exploring the next generation of artists throughout the regions of Turtle Island. Titled, Roots, this exhibit highlights and celebrates language, culture and tribal nations across the country. Roots seeks to shed light on how borders are a Western, colonial construct designed to separate Native nations and perpetuate cultural divisions, and how art can assist in healing these ruptures. The first iteration focuses on the Midwest region, including Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois. All Indigenous artists residing in these Midwest states, as well as those with tribal ties to the regions, are welcome to apply.
Works must be original and can be presented in a variety of media, including visual, video, performance, or installation. Inspired by South Dakota’s “Native POP” series and AMRA’s previous exhibition series, “On Fertile Ground,” this exhibition connects emerging artists from across the Midwest to showcase their work, unite territories and expand creative networks.
Co-curated and juried by AMRA staff and invited guests, Roots aims to highlight the talents of Native Midwest artists and provide them with a platform to reach a wider audience.
Artwork can be new or existing work and cannot have been exhibited in the last year (2025).
